First Words

When I woke Target Kid up this morning this was the first thing out of his mouth:

TK: Mom, I'm faster than Target Boy now.
Me: That's awesome.
TK: I have penguin feet. They make me run really fast, penguin arms too!
Me: Wow.

He must have been dreaming of beating his brother, although I'm not sure penguin feet are the way to go.

Triathlon, Dr. Seuss, and Commando Crawling

Triathlon
We are getting so close to tri day. If I think about it to much, then I start waking up in the middle of the night and worrying about different parts of it. Will I be too slow swimming and will someone want to pass me? Will I want to pass and how does that work with sharing lanes? What if I get a flat tire? Will I get passed by 70 year old women during the run? What if I'm last????
Today actually helped though. I did 10 miles on my bike and then ran 3 miles in 1 hr 22 min. For me that's respectable. I actually cut a lot of time off my run, which is my hardest part. I keep telling myself it will be easier race day too, because Wilmington is flat and our town/neighborhood is not flat. My entire second running mile today was uphill. That does mean the third was downhill, but that has its own issues.
Anyway, we are excited. Target Man got to go out today too, and did 10 and 3. He was happy with his times. Better than mine, of course, so he was happy. The countdown is on, two more hard days of training, then an easy week. 10 days till race day!

Dr. Seuss

In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America day, Target Boy and his best buddies from kindergarten dressed up for school. He was so awesome with his spiked blue hair. I guess having his Dad's hair is good for something!

(yes, I know my kid is tiny!)

Commando Crawling
Target Squirt Muffin is following along with all of his siblings and has started commando crawling. The little guy has been able to aptly push himself backwards for four months, but now he has figured out how to move forward. He is still quite slow, but he's getting there. I thought maybe he would be my only one to do the wobbly, slow, rock back and forth crawl that most other babies start with, but nope. Commando crawling must be genetic!

Thinking about coming back

I've been thinking about blogging lately and the fact that if I don't write down the little things going on, I'm never going to remember them. I think about all I don't remember of the boys' early days, and it makes me want to write. So here I am. I'm not promising to be consistent, but I can at least be a little better than I have been.

To start, 2010 brought another family member. For purposes of this blog, that means we need to rename kiddos. Target Boy will remain, Target Girl too. Target Baby will here and now be called Target Kid and our new little guy will be Target Squirtmuffin.

Shortly after my last post in 2009, we found out we were unexpectedly pregnant and that solved figuring out when we wanted to have another baby. Target Squirtmuffin joined our family on July 9, 2010 and things seem to have been crazy since then. In the last 7 months, we've taken a ride in an ambulance, visited the ER the day we were leaving for vacation, actually made it to Texas for a family vacation, started Kindergarten, completed the swimming leg of a triathlon, made a fairy costume, had our water heater break, which led to all the floors downstairs needing replaced, survived Target Widow season, started training for a sprint distance triathlon, survived a nasty stomach flu and the real flu, started potty training, learned to read, became somewhat mobile, played lots of soccer, football, and basketball, contemplated cleaning the house, volunteered in a classroom, and spent a few minutes of peace at home, and were introduced to princesses, Minnie, and Disney Fairies.

We love the craziness school and 4 kiddos provides and hope to remember at least a few bits and pieces of hectic lives we lead at this moment. I should also buy a new camera so at least I can have pictures of the craziness.

Scarily Quiet

I just came downstairs after putting Target Girl down for a nap and it was silent downstairs. Thoughts of marker on the walls, a total mess somewhere, or the boys escaping outside all ran through my head. But instead, I found this:

AMAZING.
